ABOUT ME

I am driven by a passion to help persons with compromised sensory systems and motor-neurone degenerative disabilities connect and communicate with the physical world and evolving technology around them.
I am interested in reshaping research and design in Navigational systems for the blind population by providing them with an efficient, safe and reliable means of communicating spatial information to improve physical awareness.
Other research focus includes Computer Vision and new projects in Artificial Intelligence Systems (AI). As I advance, I intend to analyze the design of wireless and wearable devices equipped with sensors that are compatible with Assistive devices, and other technology that can enable persons with disabilities (motor-neurone decline, traumatic brain injury, blind) to receive signals in their sensory systems, muscles and nerves allowing them to control movement, navigate spaces and perform an array of tasks.
Other Research interests and focus
Coursework in Biomedical/Bioengineering engineering and sciences, Material science and engineering, Electrical engineering has enabled me to explore academic research interests and design projects in the following areas: Assistive technology; Computer Vision, Tactile Map Systems, Nanotechnology; Tissue and Cellular engineering; Stem cell engineering, Genomics, point-of-care diagnostic devices; Biosensors; Nanophotonic devices; smart materials for use in medical devices, diagnostic tools and therapy; nuclear materials and their applications in biomedical and radiological sciences; mathematical applications that enable us to design methodologies and systems that counter the problem of drug delivery systems, biomechanics; challenges and solutions in imaging.
